Featured Book

Unlike most airline pilots, James P. Blase had more than his share of flying adventures. He’s had memorable run-ins with celebrities as well as with other flight crew members. He’s had three near-death experiences in an airliner. He’s been shot at in an L-1011 while flying during Desert Storm. He’s been flipped upside down in a B-707. And he witnessed the fatal crash of a DC-8 at the Toledo Airport on one rainy, winter night. He describes all these events with the clarity, humor, and compassion that comes with age. These stories are sometimes humorous, sometimes dramatic, and, unfortunately, sometimes quite tragic. The book includes fourteen period photographs from the collection of the author.

For a Limited Time: Each book will be hand signed by the author.

About

James P. Blase

Born in St. Louis, and raised on Long Island, James has called Texas home since 1982. His aviation experience began as a helicopter Crew Chief in Vietnam and, after graduation from Stony Brook University, continued as an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines. He became a cockpit crew member in 1987, flying passengers and freight worldwide on the B-727, B-707, DC-8, and L-1011 until he was furloughed due to the turmoil after 9/11 and left the aviation industry. He taught school and drove an eighteen-wheeler until retiring in 2015 to devote full time to his writing. He is currently working on his first novel with the unwelcome help from his sixteen-year-old, orange tabby cat, Flats Cat Blase.
